The International Center for Financial Research at the Lally School of Management & Technology
The International Center for Financial Research (ICFR) fosters high-quality research in the fields of corporate finance, financial intermediation, capital markets, risk analytics, and financial engineering. The ICFR encourages research aimed at exploring effective management, growth and stability of individual business institutions and sectors, as well as financial and economic growth at local and regional levels around the world.
The ICFR seeks to have a global impact in support of the mission of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and to enhance the worldwide visibility of the Lally School as a premier business school.
The ICFR has three distinct but related objectives:
-
To support and share research in the areas of finance and capital markets with a focus on financial intermediation and innovation of financial products and technology. To support this mission, the ICFR sponsors conferences and seminars, drawing academic and industry economists from around the world. The ICFR also hosts and supports the highly regarded Journal of Financial Stability.
-
To reach out to and interact with industry, providing workshops and short training programs for executives on current financial topics, challenges and concerns.
-
To support the scholarship and research activities of Lally students.
The ICFR hosts distinguished speakers from academia and business for:
-
The Rising Star Colloquium - a bi-annual showcase of research conducted by leading younger scholars. Each session in the Colloquium is led by an internationally-established scholar, and each paper’s discussion is led by a leading scholar in the field.
Outreach: Finance Interest Group-A University-Community Collaboration (FIG)
Based on the success of the Severino SIG model, ICFR is nurturing a similar university-community collaborative interest group with the global financial community.
