Wright, Director of Lally’s Undergraduate Program in Business and Management, was honored by the Class of 2010 at an awards luncheon on May 27 at Hefner Alumni House.
Kate Ellis ’10 presented the award stating: “Each year the graduating class presents the Dedication and Devotion award to a member of the faculty or staff that has gone above and beyond in serving the students of the Rensselaer community. The recipients of this award are voted for by members of the graduating class and are a reflection of the impact this individual has made upon our time here. This year’s recipient of the dedication and devotion award has been involved with students since the beginning of our freshman year. Many of you may have had him as a professor, an advisor, a guest speaker , or you’ve just heard stories about him. While being director of the undergraduate program at the Lally School of Management and Technology, he has always been there for students of any discipline, to offer advice and guidance. It is my pleasure to award the Class of 2010 Dedication and Devotion Award to Frank Wright.”
Professor Wright has taught Introduction to Management at the Lally School for fourteen years, teaching virtually all business and management majors as well as dual and double manjors and management minors. He will be piloting a new course on International Project Management in Fall 2010. In addition to teaching and directing the undergraduate business and management program at Lally, Wright is also the Faculty Advisor for the Epsilon Delta Sigma Management Honor Society.
When asked what is his favorite thing about students at Rensselaer, Wright noted, “The thing I admire most about Rensselaer students is their courage. They’re not afraid to experiment with ideas, they work hard, and they are open to new experiences.” He added: “I never expected to receive this award, and I am very honored.”
Wright also recently received the Nathaniel Allison Murray Award from Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, honoring a member of the Rensselaer Administration who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the students at Rensselaer. In 2008, Wright received the David M. Darrin ’40 Counseling Award, which annually recognizes a faculty member who has made an unusual contribution in the counseling of undergraduate students. The selection of the Darrin award recipient is made by Phalanx, Rensselaer’s student leadership honor society.
