Rensselaer President Shirley Ann Jackson has announced the appointment of Iftekhar Hasan as acting dean of the Lally School. Hasan, the Cary L. Wellington Professor of Finance, is also director of the International Center for Financial Research, co-director of the Ph.D. program, and area coordinator of accounting and finance for the Lally School.
Dean David Gautschi recently accepted an appointment at Fordham University as the George N. Jean Professor of Management and Dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration (Lincoln Center). Dr. Hasan and Dr. Gautschi are collaborating actively on the transition.
Dr. Hasan has been a member of the Lally School faculty since 2002, and served as acting dean prior to Dean Gautschi’s appointment. Hasan has held visiting faculty positions at several European and American universities, including the University of Rome, Robert Schuman University at Strasbourg, EPFL at Lausanne, Carlos III at Madrid, National Taiwan University, and the Stern School of Business at New York University. He has consulted for the World Bank, the United Nations, the Italian Deposit Insurance Corporation, and several other foreign central banks and regulatory authorities.
A core recruitment committee will be appointed to launch a search to fill the position permanently.
